Information

On November 10, 2015, Kuala Lumpur from Malaysia announced that the production of natural rubber from the Rubber Producing Countries Organization has fallen by nearly 1%, and this is mainly blamed on the decrease in the desire for rubber from China.

As of October 2015, the output of rubber was 89,400 tons, a decrease of 0.9%. “This challenge comes from market development changes in emerging economies” according to the report. "China's reduced desire has become a key trade indicator that needs to be closely monitored."

The low price of rubber makes many rubber growers have to consider the crop harvest of rubber planting. "Reports from China indicate that about 10-15% of rubber farmers have left their rubber plantations in anticipation of better prices." Reuters reported. "Some Chinese processing plants, especially private factories, have even suspended rubber processing, mainly considering rubber price risks or shortages of raw materials."

The rubber exporting member countries have dropped by 1.7% from this year, according to the association's data. Thailand and Indonesia, the top two rubber producing countries in the world, may suffer a hard blow from exports, but they must also face reduced demand from China, including Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia and Vietnam.

The member states of the organization have basically lowered their forecasts for the whole year. Based on this estimate, member states will produce 10.937 million tons of rubber per month in 2015.
